The 2013 Appassionata displays an incredibly opaque, dark purple core with hints of magenta and ruby on the rim. Aromas of blackcurrant liqueur, blueberry, blackberry, black cherry and violets over complex secondary notes of cacao, tobacco, bean and exotic baking spices. The full-bodied palate is layered with dense, captivating flavors that mirror the nose with lush black and blue fruit, chocolate, a touch of tobacco and beautifully integrated exotic spices from new French oak.
95 Points - Robert Parker
The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Apassionata has an even inkier blue/purple color and a stunning nose of blackberries, blueberries, graphite and spring flowers. It is much more youthful and less evolved compared to the 2012, but even more concentrated and delineated. This is a sensational effort, but again, production is extremely small. Ideally, this begs for several years of bottle age, but it should evolve and drink well for 20-25 years.
